AB InBev's studio head is out, the latest marketing shakeup at the Anheuser-Busch parent company following the Bud Light fiasco . The company put seasoned AB InBev marketer Lauren Denowitz in charge as global studio head while enlisting help from Oscar-winning Michael Sugar's production company, Sugar23, and branded entertainment guru Jae Goodman . Bud Light faced months of conservative-led protests and falling sales over its partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. The Anheuser-Busch controversy started in April when the company sent Mulvaney a personalized Bud Light can for a March Madness contest. The fallout has dragged down US performance for two quarters in a row, even as AB InBev beat expectations in the most recent quarter.

Coca-Cola on Wednesday raised its full-year outlook after reporting earnings and revenue that topped estimates. For 2023, Coke now expects comparable earnings per share growth of 5% to 6%, up from its prior forecast of a 4% to 5% rise. The company's three drinks divisions all reported flat growth for the quarter, but there were some bright spots. Coke Zero Sugar's volume rose 5%, thanks to strong demand in North America and Latin America. Ultra-filtered milk brand Fairlife saw strong growth in the U.S. Coke's coffee division also reported volume growth of 5%, fueled by Costa Coffee's performance in the United Kingdom and China.

P&G Studios head Kimberly Doebereiner argues that great entertainment can come from brands. Procter & Gamble is at the forefront of the growing brand film space — with its own in-house shingle, P&G Studios, actively pursuing entertainment projects that look nothing like ads. "The first thing I'd love is for the distributors to see that great content can come from anybody, and even if it's from a brand, that doesn't mean it's brand content," she told Insider in an interview. "We have great marketing, we have great brands, we can help bring in viewers, right? "We'd love to have our content be able to show up in the retailer with our brands and create better awareness for that content," Doebereiner said.

As studios cut spending and strikes shut down production, Hollywood can take some solace — brands are coming to the rescue. Brand Storytelling is an organization that's held a festival for brand content alongside the Sundance Film Festival for the past seven years. Brand film submissions have almost tripled to 160 in the past three years, according to Rick Parkhill, director and co-founder of Brand Storytelling. "Film directors need the work," said Marcus Peterzell, who left ad giant Omnicom to found Passion Point Collective, a brand film studio, in 2019. He's since made some 36 film projects for brands.

Anheuser-Busch is building an entertainment division, Insider has learned, the latest big marketer to turn to Hollywood to reach consumers who are increasingly glued to ad-free streaming services. The AB InBev effort is under a new, unannounced entity called draftLine Entertainment, a part of its internal ad agency, draftLine. DraftLine Entertainment is being run by AB InBev marketer Lauren Denowitz as global studio head, reporting to VP Fábio Baracho. The world's biggest brewer, AB InBev is well known for its marketing. In the case of AB InBev, entertainment is a way to promote the beer category at large over any individual brand.

T-MobileT-Mobile opted for a more low-key approach, recruiting movie star Bradley Cooper and his mother to pitch viewers on the benefits of the mobile carrier. At least, that's what the plan was when Cooper was signed to do the commercial, the ad says. DoritosDoritos has become one of the most notable Super Bowl advertisers in recent years, and the chip brand continued its run, calling on music star Jack Harlow for most of its triangle-themed ad. In the ad, Harlow decides he is going to quit rapping in order to pursue his new passion: the triangle.

It's sold dozens of projects to the likes of Netflix, Amazon, and HBO, including "jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy." Time Studios has been developing some projects you might not expect from a 100-year-old legendary magazine brand. And of course there's "jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy," the doc series about now-disgraced Ye that sold to Netflix for a reported $30 million in 2021 after a robust bidding war. The Benioffs' support has allowed Time Studios to deficit-finance, or self-fund, about half its doc projects, enabling it to move at startup speed.
